With only two exceptions, Cantor Finkelstein performs his own original compositions for the High Holidays on this album. One of the exceptions is a new arrangement of the traditional “Kol Nidre” and the other is the inclusion of two prayer melodies heard on the second day of Succot.
As in previous compositions, Cantor Finkelstein's new melodies are appealing, accessible, and musically complex. His eight year old daughter, Emily, makes her recording debut with this album and is the featured soloist on three selections. It is interesting to note that Cantor Meir Finkelstein's made his first recording at about the same age with his father, Cantor Z'vi Finkelstein.
