Charles Davidson was commissioned by the White Plains Jewish Community Center in 1959 to capture the essence of Chassidism. Combining the best of contemporary musical materials with the rich Jewish expressiveness of classic Chassidic song he sought to portray the delicacy of interwoven themes and the buoyant subtlety of the infectious rhythms that characterizes true Chassidism. Performing this work is Cantor Ray Smolover, Cantor and Music Director of the White Plains Jewish Community Center.
