I have a 1915 Victrola and had the opportunity to hear him sing &quot;Rock-a-Bye Your Baby With a Dixie Melody&quot;, on an original record owned by a close friend.

Listening to that recording on that old (but restored) phonograph gave me a real sense of what it must have been like to hear him sing for the first time back inn the day.

Your post makes it all the more interesting to know a bit about the man behind the voice.
